Laredo Heat Soccer Club Launches “Do Good, Be Good Fan Drive” to Help Families Beat the Heat

August 25th – 28, 2025 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Daily | Drop-Off Location: PEG Energy Stadium, 5401 Bob Bullock Loop

Wednesday, August 6, 2025 (Laredo, TX): The Laredo Heat Soccer Club is proud to announce its inaugural Fan Drive, a community outreach effort to collect oscillating fans for local families who are struggling to stay cool during Laredo’s intense summer heat. The drive will take place from Monday, August 25th through Thursday, August 28, 2025, with drop-off hours between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily at PEG Energy Stadium, located at 5401 Bob Bullock Loop, across the Laredo International Airport.

In a city where triple-digit temperatures are the norm, many families lack the basic cooling resources needed to stay safe and comfortable. The Laredo Heat is calling on its loyal supporters — and the broader community — to step up and donate new oscillating fans to those in need.

“We’re known for the heat — both on the field and in our city — but we also want to be known for how we support one another,” said Laredo Heat’s Shashi Vaswani. “That’s why we’re asking our soccer fans to help us by donating literal fans to our community.”

The collected fans will be distributed through Casa Misericordia, thanks to the guidance and support of Sister Rosemary, who has helped the club identify families in urgent need of relief.

As part of this initiative, the Laredo Heat will also be offering community service hours to high school students who participate. Students will receive 15 verified service hours per fan donated, with a maximum of 45 hours per student (3 fans total). This is a great way for students to make a meaningful impact while earning hours toward their school or scholarship requirements.

The drive is part of the club’s broader “Do Good. Be Good.” campaign — an ongoing mission to promote kindness, compassion, and community involvement throughout Laredo. The club encourages others to pay it forward and find their own way to give back, whether through this effort or others like it.

The Laredo Heat is also grateful for the generous support of Dr. Ike’s Home Center, who has pledged to donate several oscillating fans to help kick off the drive.

Media coverage is welcome, and the Laredo Heat Soccer Club is available for interviews throughout the campaign.
